Steve was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. He received a B.Sc. from Mount Allison University in 1999, and a PhD working with Professor D. L. J. Clive at the University of Alberta in 2005. In 2005 he joined the group of Professor Dr Ben L. Feringa in Groningen, The Netherlands, and in 2007 joined Professor Jonathan Clayden’s group at the University of Manchester. He started at the University of Oxford in 2009 as an EPSRC Career Acceleration Fellow. In 2015 he was appointed as Associate Professor and Official Fellow and Tutor in Chemistry at Keble College. His research interests include asymmetric catalysis, the origin of life, and the control, use and measurement of dynamic stereochemistry.
